Just unbelievable. What an incredible experience. It's small an quaint. But, grandiose in Atmosphere. Al our Server greeted us. Offered lots of info in reference to their different fresh catch available. It was our first visit here. Als vibrant personality and charisma is contagious. A true gentleman. In every sense of the word. Stared with the Hot Jasmine Tea. Prepared fresh from loose leaves in a unique small Tea Pot that held the leaves in a reservoir in the center. The Aroma was relaxing and therapeutic. No tea bags here. WOW! A great variety of curries. Their menu is far from the ordinary. I started my meal with the Tom Kha, Soup, it consists of a coconut broth,w/galonga root, scallions, thick and plentiful mushrooms with a nutty robust fresh flavor. And, yes with the Aromatic ever so popular Lemon Grass. The Chicken or Tofu is a 2.95 and the Shrimp is 3.95 generous portions. Priced Right. I opted for the Tofu. I look forward to having this soup again. Next, I ordered the Dragon Roll. With a twist, requested the Smoked Salmon instead of the Tuna and also requested the Spicy Mayo. Delicious:-)) We also ordered the Panang Curry Chicken. Can also be prepared w/Beef, Shrimp and Tofu. Creamy delicious and plentiful. Served w/The Aromatic Jasmine Rice. Looking forward to many future wonderful meals here. Complements to the Chef.

I dropped in here desperate for a quick lunch. I had one hour to eat between six hours of medical testing. Besides the fact that it is fast, I like Thai because I can get it vegetarian and gluten-free. It's a beautiful space with wide comfortable booths and the staff is smart, quick and gracious. I ordered the green curry with just vegetables and iced tea. The presentation was over the top! Gorgeous! The curry and rice were perfection - just the right amount of sauce at a perfect thickness with a gently sweet flavor, perfectly cooked vegetables, and perfectly cooked rice. Thai Spice and Sushi just zoomed to the top of my favorite Thai restaurants. Can't wait to come back and try the sushi (kappa maki or vegetable of course)!

This Thai Spice restaurant is actually right by where I work, and I'm so happy my coworkers took me here for lunch. I'm completely hooked on the sushi! The spicy tuna rolls are so delicious - along with the dynamite and japanese bagel rolls. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. The major bonus for me is how the sushi is rolled nice and tight! Nothing is worse than loosely rolled sushi that just falls apart when you try to grasp it with chopsticks. The service is quick and the staff are extremely friendly. When we order sushi, they also give you a spring roll with some sweet chili sauce as a starter. Of course, the spring rolls are delicious too as they are nice and crispy. The restaurant is very small, but the interior decor is very nice - and clean! This is definitely my favorite go-to sushi place in town. I am recommending Thai Spice to my friends and family who enjoy sushi as much as I do.

This place is amazing! I love their week day lunch specials. You get homemade soup, spring roll and lunch special. Very nice staff too!

The food is authentic and good. The service is bad and it's summertime without the snowbirds. Seating / tables are very limited. Other options are available.

I've been here twice for their lunch specials - GET THE SUSHI combos but SKIP THE THAI FOOD. When I sampled here with a few friends, we all got different items i.e. pad thai and pineapple fried rice, but none really tasted very "thai". What do I mean by that? Well, thai food has very specific spices that when combined together, make a dish taste a certain special way. The pad thai tasted somewhat like spaghetti sauce and the fried rice tasted more Chinese than Thai. However, the second time I came here to try their sushi combos and that was a huge success! They are very generous with the fresh fish that they serve on rolls and overall, the rolls are a great value and taste fresh! I will definitely come back here for their sushi lunch special again! TIP: Get the sushi lunch special. Also, if you check in on facebook, you get a free thai ice tea!

I am giving this place 5 stars for many reasons. First of all, the food there is outstanding. Me and my family eat there almost every weekend and we get the same thing every time. The staff members and the owner remember us by name and by our order. Al and Kim are always very personable servers and Sam the chef and owner always come out out to say hello.

Waited 10 minutes before being acknowledged. They could not give me a wait time. Totally understaffed. Will never go there again

Excellent!! I have been for both lunch and dinner. The food is authentic and DELICIOUS. We had a sushi roll that was to die for. My husband had a fish dish that was the best fish he has ever had at a restaurant (and we love to dine out). I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Excellent Thai for Sarasota. The curries are tasty and nicely spiced. The coconut cake is a must try. Excellent service and a small intimate setting.

The food is really good here and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The Tom Kha soup is excellent and if you want a spicy dish you will not be disappointed. They make a very tasty Thai Tea and overall highly recommended for dinner.

When Gabriel and I arrived for dinner at Thai Spice and Sushi, there were 3 booths and one table filled. All of the other booths and tables were empty. Our host began leading us to a table for 2, smack in the middle of the restaurant and we asked to instead be seated at one of the booths for 2 people. He paused, uncomfortably, and told us he had to go check with his manager. Huh? The manager came back and said, "I'm sorry but we need to seat you at a table." I asked, "Oh, are the booths all reserved?" and she replied "No, but we need to evenly divide the work of the waitstaff, and the other waiter already has 2 booths to wait on. " I was a bit taken aback by her response and pushed further asking, "What if suddenly 4 other parties come in for dinner, you will eventually seat people in those booths, right?" and she confirmed. She then told us that one of the other booths of people looked like they might be finishing up and we could wait for their table. Am I in the twilight zone? What kind of weirdo service rule is she following, especially in a fairly new restaurant where she should be trying to create a welcoming environment. Anyway, we really didn't want the middle-of-the-room table so we decided to wait the 10 minutes it took to sit at a booth. This did not bode well for whatever was to follow. Luckily, when we WERE finally seated, we quickly learned that our waiter was awesome. He was polite, funny, kind and knowledgeable. That *kind* of made up for it, but honestly, this manager really needs to re-think her approach. We decided to share a few things including the basil fresh rolls (which had fresh veggies, basil and shrimp inside), the Thai salad with peanut dressing, and the shrimp Pad Thai. I thought the rolls and salad/dressing were all awesome..The Pad Thai was so-so. It actually had kind of a ketchup-y flavor to me. I know some recipes call for ketchup, but this was just too much...and it overpowered the whole dish. It wasn't awful- just definitely not the best example of Pad Thai I've had before. When the waiter told us that the chef is actually FROM Thailand, I couldn't help but think it was a shame that the recipe he or she learned was clearly not an authentic one. Overall, our experience here was okay. As fantastic as our waiter was, the initial refusal to let us sit where we wanted really bugged me and may sway whether or not we go back. They do have some great sounding lunch specials on their menu and it might be worth one more shot...Have you been? What did you think?

Went for lunch today - the service was great, All the staff out front were American, which, I must say was rather odd. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. The lunch specials came with soup and a fried spring roll. They did not have any special sushi lunch offerings which was disappointing. I can't do dairy and most dishes had coconut milk, but the waitress spent time going over other options with me and she said she could do a lunch size of the Pad see- ew, I think that was the one. The soup was different, at first i thought I liked it but then it tasted like a glob of grease was thrown in, my guest didn't like it at all. The spring roll was greasy and the filling meh - I ate half. My dish was loaded with eggs and not so many veggies, pretty tasteless I poured on the hot sauce. The portion was small, which is fine for me, but not a good size for a bigger appetite. They were fairly busy for lunch, which was good to see. One table ordered a big dish of sushi which looked good and I may go back again to try the sushi, but it was not good enough to bring me back for Thai food. My favorite sushi lunch was Jpan on Main Street - but we went down there to walk around and they must have sold as I sign just went up that said Hana Sushi Lounge. There is no "vibe" in San Marco Plaza or even Main Street - so pretty but just not a happening area.

Went to dinner here on a whim and had the most soul-satisfying meal! the Staff was welcoming and very helpful. The Chefs where amazing. We had to greet them personally to say thank you--the food is that good. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Coconut Lemongrass Chicken soup was earthy comfort food we got to taste because the chef accidentally made one extra. I will order it for myself next time I go--it was amazing. Sweet and Spicy Thai wings were done to perfection. Pad See Eew was amazing. They have gluten-free soy sauce, which the chef will use in your dishes upon request--which is innovative and thoughtful. Portions are very generous. Atmosphere is very comfortable. Overall, this place has a great vibe. I look forward to going back.

A nice Thai restaurant in the 'burbs. Eating companion (EC) and I went there for dinner on a Saturday night (the tourist season is over). We ordered the fresh basil rolls. When they arrived, we thought they brought us two servings, but no, they were just very generous and delicious. For our entree, EC ordered the basil chicken, which was also excellent. I ordered the pad thai with shrimp. I usually order pad the first time we go to a new Thai restaurant - as it's the national dish of Thailand, the restaurant should prepare it correctly. I found theirs to be a little sweet - not bad really, just a little sweet. Additionally, being in the suburbs, the medium hot was pretty wimpy. We asked for some sriracha, which fixed both the sweetness and lack of heat problems. The servings were generous - we probably could have split one entree and then might have had room for dessert. For drinks, we ordered Chang beer - a brand that's often hard to find. The service was excellent. They also have a sushi menu, but we didn't order any. Reasonable price - four beers, an appetizer, and two entrees for $50. We will go back.
